OUR STORY

We’re Rhett and Claire - travel content creators, online English teachers, videographers and most importantly, we’re a couple that’s passionate about traveling the world and experiencing new things! You may, however, be wondering how we got to this point in our lives. So, here’s our story:

Rhett grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. As a youngster, he had a huge passion for airplanes which led him to pursue a pilot’s license as soon as he finished school. After that, he enrolled in university where he completed an undergraduate degree in Geography, an Honours degree in Environmental Science, and a Master’s degree in Geomorphology. It is currently the year 2024, and Rhett has completely changed his career path. After having taught himself videography and video editing, he’s worked as a video editor and videographer for various clients and is now fully focused on growing our YouTube channel and personal brand.

I, Claire, also grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. Unlike Rhett, I wasn’t a fan of academia. I completed a Bachelor of Education Degree and knew that that was enough studying for me. I always knew that traveling was going to be my passion after high school and so after completing my Education degree, I dragged Rhett along with me to teach English in Asia (not against his will though, of course). LOL.

We met in 2015, travelled abroad together for the first time to Thailand in 2017 and from that point, absolutely fell in love with travel. From then on, we thought of anything we could do to make travel a more frequent thing. We both knew we didn’t want to stay in South Africa for much longer, so in 2018 we made the decision to quit our jobs and move abroad to Vietnam. While we were there, we completed our in-class TESOL certificates. I landed myself a full-time teaching job in an international school, and Rhett got a job at Wall Street English. After realising that we both fell back into full-time jobs with long working hours and not being able to travel as frequently, we decided to quit those jobs to teach English online and grow our YouTube channel. This gave us the freedom to travel and work at the same time, and we haven't looked back since.
